We've all seen it. The young girl or guy posting to social media, taking a "selfie" while driving, eating fast food or jumping in the tub with a toaster.
I recall the you tube video of the woman falling into the fountain while texting and walking. How about that ice bucket challenge?!
THIS IS NO LAUGHING MATTER!
According to news outlets more people have been killed by selfies this year then sharks!
That's it! I'll never bring my cell phone into the ocean (or shower) again! I will still probably take some selfies while on the throne, hey everyone needs a vice.
A recent report by Fox News Insider:
"It seems like we hear each summer about the growing dangers of shark attacks. But according to Mashable, selfies are claiming lives at a higher rate.
The website says that there have been eight known shark-related deaths around the world this year, compared to at least 12 fatal accidents stemming from an attempted selfie.
For instance, a Japanese tourist recently died in India while trying to take a selfie after he slipped and fell down the stairs of the Taj Mahal.
In Houston earlier this month, a 19-year-old man shot himself in the throat while snapping selfies with a gun.
In July, a man was nearly killed when he tried to take a selfie with a rattlesnake and was bitten.
Then there was a Tennessee tourist who scaled the Brooklyn Bridge to take a selfie. He wasn't hurt, but the stunt forced New York City to increase its security measures over the summer.
And last but not least, a woman in Yellowstone National Park was attacked by a bison in July when she turned her back to the animal and tried to take a selfie.
In Russia, officials have warned people to avoid dangerous selfies, citing about 100 injuries and dozens of deaths there.
"A cool selfie could cost you your life," the interior ministry warned in a new leaflet packed with tips such as "a selfie with a weapon kills".

In January, two young men blew themselves up in the Ural Mountains while taking a selfie holding a hand grenade with the pin pulled out. The mobile phone with the selfie survived as a record.
In May, a teenager in the Ryazan region died while attempting to take a selfie as he climbed on a railway bridge and accidentally came into contact with live wires."
Next time your playing with hand grenades or trying to sneak up on a bison, maybe you should consider hiring a professional. Unless of course YOU are on the throne!
Never a disappointment
